James Marsden and Son Jack, 25, Make Rare Appearance Together in Their First-Ever Joint Brand Collaboration

James Marsden has reached a new milestone with his son, Jack.

The actor, 52, along with his 25-year-old son, is the stars of The Macallan’s new “Drink of a Generation” campaign, which spotlights the whiskey’s Sherry Oak 25 and 30 Years Old expressions.

To mark their first-ever joint brand campaign, the two made a rare appearance together in Los Angeles at The Macallan Villa in Los Angeles on Wednesday, June 10.

Marsden wore a black suit with a light blue button-down for the outing, while his son wore a brown suit with a black undershirt.

Photos obtained by PEOPLE from the event show them sharing a toast and smiling for pictures.

“[The campaign is] really about celebrating special moments with loved ones,” Valerie Marks, marketing director for The Macallan, told Marketing Dive.

“That really stemmed from an insight through some of our social listening, where we saw a lot of comments and conversations around The Macallan,” she continued. “Many times people had been introduced to The Macallan 25 and The Macallan 30, with a grandfather, a parent, a mother, someone within their family…and we kept seeing these stories come up time and time again.”

In a video filmed by the father-son duo for the campaign, the two discussed how the whiskey has played a role in their lives.

“I think about the times we actually had a special occasion to toast,” said Marsden. “We kind of created them on our own.”

After discussing occasions when the two celebrated with a drink, including Jack’s graduation and move to Nashville, Marsden said that the two spending time together has always been a “moment” to celebrate.

Marsden shared the campaign on his Instagram, writing, “Sharing a glass of @the_macallan Sherry Oak 30 Years Old with my son, @jackmmarsden , has become one of our favorite traditions, creating moments that connect us across time. Cheers to the Drink of a Generation for all the fathers out there! #sponsored #21+ #drinkresponsibly”

In addition to Jack, Marsden also shares daughter Mary, 20, with his ex-wife, Lisa Linde. He shares his youngest child, William, 10, with his ex-girlfriend, Rose Costa.

Marsden recently starred in the second season of Apple TV’s Your Friends & Neighbors, which is now streaming in full. He will also be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, which opens on Dec. 18.
