James Marsden has made his name in a variety of Hollywood movies. He was Cyclops in “X-Men” and Lois Lane’s boyfriend in “Superman Returns.” He has also made his mark in romantic comedies (“27 Dresses”) and musicals (“Hairspray”). However, before he was a star, he was a kid in Oklahoma who one day dreamed that he could make it in the movies.

On June 9 in Oklahoma City, the deadCENTER Film Festival bestowed upon Marsden the honor of being one of two men to win the inaugural Oklahoma Film Icon award, along with producer Gray Frederickson (“The Godfather, Part II”). Marsden also has a new movie screening at the festival, “Robot and Frank,” starring Frank Langella. Marsden took time to talk with me at the festival about his new movie and returning to Oklahoma to receive his award.

The Tony Awards has announced the line-up of performances for the 66th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday, June 10th. The evening, which will be packed with more entertainment than ever before, will feature performances by 2012 Tony Nominated Musicals including: Evita featuring Ricky Martin and Elena Roger; Follies featuring Tony nominated actor Danny Burstein; The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess featuring Tony nominees Audra McDonald, Norm Lewis and David Alan Grier; Jesus Christ Superstar featuring Tony nominee Josh Young; Leap of Faith featuring Raúl Esparza; Newsies, featuring Tony nominated actor Jeremy Jordan; Nice Work If You Can Get It featuring Matthew Broderick and Tony nominee Kelli O’Hara; and Once featuring Tony nominees Steve Kazee, Cristin Milioti and Elizabeth A. Davis. The evening will also include performances by Tony nominated Plays, such as: End of the Rainbow with Tony nominated actress Tracie Bennett; One Man, Two Guvnors with Tony nominated actor James Corden and Peter and the Starcatcher featuring Tony nominees Christian Borle and Celia Keenan-Bolger. The show will also feature a performance with Corbin Bleu and the cast of Godspell and Ghost The Musical featuring Bryce Pinkham, Caissie Levy and Richard Fleeshman.

Jimmy participated in the 5th Annual Nautica South Beach Triathlon to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on April 1, 2012 in Miami Beach, Florida. I’ve uploaded 57 HQ photos from this event to the gallery. Accordding to New York Post, he took a wrong turn and biked an extra eight miles by mistake, but his team still won.

James Marsden may play the dopey Criss on NBC’s “30 Rock,” but the actor himself says he feels the need to be extremely up on current events to keep up with the whip-smart “30 Rock” staff.

News and culture references are constantly being added to the scripts, Marsden told us recently, and he feels “the need to keep up in order to maintain the water-cooler talk.”

The actor has been playing Liz Lemon’s love interest in a recurring role, and it’s a character Marsden describes as “a dope, but a loveable one. He has his gourmet hotdog truck, [and] nothing ruffles his feathers, whereas Liz overthinks everything.”

North American rights to the comedy Bachelorette, which premiered Jan. 23 at the Sundance Film Festival, have been acquired by Radius, the new label launched by The Weinstein Co. late last year, in a deal valued at more than $2 million.

The film stars Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher, Lizzy Caplan, James Marsden, Kyle Bornheimer, Rebel Wilson and Adam Scott; it centers on a hedonistic bachelorette party.

Bachelorette is the debut feature from writer/director Leslye Headland, who adapted the film from her stage play of the same name.
